Coastr, a vehicle-as-a-service (VaaS) platform for vehicle rental and fleet management, has integrated connected vehicle data from Volteras, according to Fleet World. The deal lets rental and leasing operators pull OEM-grade data and use remote connectivity without installing aftermarket hardware.
What customers get
Coastr customers can now access mileage and vehicle health data across 31 of the 36 OEM brands that Volteras supports. Fleet World reports that operators see live mileage, vehicle health and fault data directly inside Coastr.
Keyless entry is available for Mercedes, Tesla, Volvo and Ford vehicles. The sources say further manufacturers will follow, but do not name them or give dates.
Customers can reach vehicle information and keyless entry through their operator's branded Coastr app. The stated aim is contactless pickup and drop-off.
Mixed fleets, one integration
The pitch is that operators can connect mixed fleets through a single integration, avoiding the cost and operational burden of extra hardware. Coastr and Volteras say the live fault and health data should help operators spot problems earlier, cut downtime and plan maintenance better.
The announcement does not say how data is licensed or priced, which OEM data feeds sit behind the Volteras coverage, or how many Coastr customers will use the service.
What the companies said
Steve Morrison, customer success lead at Volteras, said the company is helping rental and leasing customers "catch problems earlier, recover vehicles faster and deliver a genuinely contactless experience without a single piece of aftermarket hardware."
Coastr CEO Biswajit Kundu Roy said he expects connected car technology to become critical infrastructure for next-generation fleet services, as AI-powered digital services grow in fleet management. He described Volteras as a pioneer in the space and said the two will collaborate on new innovations built on OEM connected car data.
Context
The deal is aimed at rental and leasing, where vehicles turn over quickly and fleets often span many brands. In that setting, fitting and removing devices adds cost and delay. Getting data and remote functions straight from the manufacturer removes that step, though coverage depends on each OEM's supported brands and features. Here, 5 of Volteras's 36 brands are not covered for mileage and health data, and keyless entry is limited to four makes for now.
